Data
Archival
Indicators - (also known as Social Indicators) are comprised
of data collected from public information sources that allow
individual counties to see trends of risk factors in their
communities. These indicators have been shown to correlate
strongly with specific risk factors for youth involvement in
alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, violence and other prohibited
behavior. Data is collected annually for all counties as well
as at the state level. The database is updated each year and
reported as a rate or percentage. Examples of data contained
in the database include: divorce, immunizations and teen pregnancy.
The majority of the indicators contain data from 1988 through
the most current year available.
MYDAUS - The Maine Youth Drug and Alcohol Use Survey (MYDAUS) has
been administered periodically by the Office of Substance
Abuse (OSA) since 1988. The overall goal of the survey series
is to identify patterns of alcohol, tobacco and other drug
use among middle and high school students in Maine and to
estimate the number and characteristics of students in this
age group who are at elevated risk of drug use and related
problems.
